The Academic Cooperation and Research Support Office (ACRO) is responsible for co-ordinating CEU efforts in international academic co-operation and providing administrative support to CEU research activities and projects. ACRO assists CEU faculty, staff and students to seek and secure partnerships and support for their academic mobility, cooperation and research. The Erasmus Office is also a part of ACRO. We also provide services to CEU doctoral students mainly through the Global Teaching Fellowship Program and assistance in securing grants for conferences, field trips and research. ACRO proposes and implements policies ensuring that externally funded research and CEU academic partnerships are of the highest quality and in line with CEU mission and values.
In line with the University's commitment to high quality research, our Faculty obtained over €8 million in new research grants in 2014-2015 with the support of the Academic Cooperation and Research Support Office. CEU has been host institution of 10 European Research Council (ERC) grants under the FP7 Program (including a major Synergy grant) and launched two more ERC-funded projects under the Horizon 2020 Program. CEU placed fifth among European universities in the number of collaborative research awards in social sciences and humanities obtained via the European Commission's 7th Framework Programme.
Other external funders of research and academic events include public funding agencies, such as the US Government, The Korea Foundation, the The United Nations Environment Programme, International Visegrad Fund; and private foundations, like Rothschild Foundation, Open Society Foundation, Volkswagen Foundation, Fritz Thyssen Foundation, National Endowment for Democracy and Leverhulme Trust.
