According to the terms of CEU's Ethical Research Policy, all academic staff members whose research involves ethical issues, and staff members directly involved in administering or managing such research, should undergo research ethics training once every five years. With this provision, the CEU brings its ethical research policies more into line with practices at other leading research universities.
Research that can involve ethical questions is broadly all research involving human subjects. The research ethics training that the CEU will use is an online program offered by the Canadian Government's Panel on Ethical Research and is used by a number of research universities(https://tcps2core.ca/welcome). All relevant faculty and staff are asked to undertake the training program within six months of their start date at CEU and then once every five years thereaftere.
Registration and completion of the program is quite straightforward, instructions are on the website.
