Call for applications for Fall 2023 semester (September - December 2023) and Spring 2024 semester (February – May 2024)

The University of Georgia (UG) invites applications for Global Teaching Fellowships - one fellowship in each semester to teach at UG, Tbilisi, Georgia, in the Fall 2023 semester (September- December 2023) and Spring 2024 Semester (February - May 2024). The successful applicant is a Ph.D. student, or recent Ph.D. graduate, whose work is related to the issues of nationalism, ethnicity, migration, and citizenship studies.

Eligible applicants are recent Ph.D. graduates who received their Ph.D. degree from the CEU or CIVICA member institution within the last two years or they are advanced (ABD all but dissertation) Ph.D. candidates.

The successful candidate(s) will teach up to two courses, which will be set by the Nationalism and Ethnicity Studies Center of the University of Georgia, in agreement with the Fellow. The Fellow will also have the possibility to offer one course on his/her special area of expertise, in coordination with the department. The language of instruction is English. Candidates should discuss the Syllabus of their specialized course with their supervisor and the department at UG in advance. The Fellow will be hosted by the Nationalism and Ethnicity Studies Center at UG and he/she will be invited to get involved in the center’s activities.

Successful candidates will receive an honorarium from UG by the standard rates for teaching.

Successful candidates should comply with national visa regulations.

Applicants who are CEU Ph.D. Candidates at the time of application:

  • Endorsement letter from the Head of the Doctoral Program (email or scanned copy)

Applicants who are CEU Ph.D. graduates:

  • One Letter of Reference

From CIVICA applicants:

  • two Letters of Reference (email or scanned copy)
  • English language proficiency minimum level C1 – if the Ph.D. studies were not in English
